Match Report
Dunton Dynamos 2 - 0 Brandon Groves
League game - 8th March 2009; Conditions: Cold, clear and strong breeze
Dynamos made a rare
appearance at Great Berry School as they enjoyed a fine win over Brandon
Groves on a cold, bright and breezy Sunday morning.
After a battling, but uneventful first half performance in very difficult conditions, Dynamos started frantically but gradually started to pass the ball around in their accustomed manner. Oscar passed thoughtfully and consistently as did Jack. Both set up several chances for AJ, who unfortunately was having ‘one of those days’ in front of goal.
After a score-less first half, the team took full advantage of the strong wind and several boys struck shots from long distance to test the Brandon Groves ‘keeper. Both Joe’s tried their luck, as did Kieran, but the ball kept going wide of the post.
A goal eventually
came when Ross cleared well from his area and the ball fell to Joe W,
who harried the ‘keeper to force the ball home.
The second deserved goal came when Jack broke through the middle and set up Jack, who kept a cool head to slot the ball home. 2 – O.
AJ could have scored a hat full, as Oscar and Joe W., continued to create chances for him. AJ then turned provider for Curtis, who also shot wide in a half which was being dominated by Dynamos.
Many boys played well; Jack and Oscar continued to pass effectively in the second half. Substitute Jonathan was very active in defence and in making determined runs through the middle. Once again the defence kept another clean sheet, with Harry and Adam forming another solid central partnership in a fine win.
Man of the Match:
Joe - for a battling display on the left.
