Match Report
Dunton Dynamos 1- 1 Thurrock Tigers
League game - 22nd February 2009; Conditions: Chilly, grey and breezy
Dynamos had to play this home match in Chafford Hundred as an away fixture following problems trying to secure the pitch at Great Berry School.
It was a frustrating display however, as the boys just seemed to lack concentration and focus for the 70 minutes to win this fixture.
On a wide pitch which suited Dynamos passing game, Jack in particular, started well with a controlled performance and good passing technique. But it was Tigers who took the lead as the defence failed to close down the opposition on the edge of the penalty area, leaving the left winger free to hit a fine goal across Ross into the left hand corner of the net.
The equaliser finally came when Curtis hit a fine ball over the top of the Tigers defence for Joe Williams to lob the keeper. The score was 1-1 at half time and unfortunately the score line remained unchanged despite Dynamos gradually adopting a more aggressive style in the second half. Tigers had a number of ‘strapping’ lads playing and at times some Dynamos players seemed intimidated and stood off when a tackle was required.
Jack tried his luck from distance and Jake too forced the keeper into a fine save after some wonderful passing involving Joe Thorpe, Jack, and Joe Williams, but the quick-fire passing was all too rare a sight as the team just could not raise the tempo to gain the win.
All in all, it felt like two points dropped rather than a point gained.
Man of the Match: KIERAN, for a solid display in midfield.
