Match Report
Thurrock Tigers 0 - 3 Dunton Dynamos
League game - 7th December 2008; Conditions: Cold, bright, crisp
Well this is the season of waiting – ‘Advent’ – and it was for Dynamos on this beautiful, crisp winter lunchtime kick off. It had been 7 weeks since the team had last kicked a ball in earnest due to the postponement of both league and cup matches as a result of waterlogged pitches.
Looking resplendent in their new red and blue kit, Dynamos produced their best performance in this season of promise, beating Thurrock Tigers 3-0 at Chafford Hundred. They fashioned a stunning display which matched their smart, new attire.
Despite losing Jack to an early knock, the boys passed the ball magnificently and played with increasing confidence against a team which beat them twice last season. It just shows how much Dynamos have improved individually and collectively to play so well.
Dynamos used the flanks as well as the middle to create exciting, attacking football in a dominant, first half display. The only wonder was that it was solitary 1-0 lead at half time. The goal was scored by AJ, who hit a firm strike that hit the underside of the bar to cross the line after a goalmouth scramble.
Kieran and debutant Jake were strong in centre midfield and Sam and Oscar kept the Tigers full backs pegged back in their own half as the team surged forward at every opportunity. Both made strong runs from the middle, forcing the opposition further and further back as the match progressed.
Jonathan was able to play ‘Bosingwa-like’ spending more time in the Tigers half supporting the midfield than defending. Adam, Robert and Adam were very strong and Tigers never looked like scoring. Ross was hardly ever called upon to make a save in the entire match.
After the break, Joe Williams squeezed home a second under the keeper, and soon afterwards, Jake scored his debut goal, crashing home a fierce shot giving the keeper no chance to make it 3-0.
Jack was threading some fine balls through after re-appearing in the second half and AJ continued to be a menace.
Tigers made more of the slope in the latter stages of the game, but the win never looked in doubt. It was a terrific, ‘professional’ performance by the team, especially after having not been able to play for so long. It was a thoroughly deserved win to move up the table once again.
Man of the match: Everyone played so well that it was difficult to choose one above the rest. The whole team passed the ball beautifully at times. They were strong in the tackle, focused and showed great commitment throughout.
Well done to Paul and every single player; all played their part and deserved the glory this afternoon.
