Match Report
Dunton Dynamos 7-1 LTD Cobras
League Match - 10th February 2008; Conditions: Dry, sunny – perfect!
Dynamos earned an unprecedented third successive win this morning. Despite the score-line, it was a competitive encounter as Ross made some important saves to keep Cobras at bay in the early stages. Up front, AJ used his aggression to good effect and he linked well with Sean to cause Cobras problems the entire match.
The first goal came as direct result of AJ’s persistence as he forced the keeper into a save for Sean to follow up with a good finish across the goal. Straight from the kick off Kieran challenged well and slotted through a perfect ball for AJ to put the Dynamos ahead 2-0 at half time.
After the break a few changes were made to the line up and this resulted in some initial defensive uncertainty as the Cobras scored a great goal to bring them back into contention. A few nervy moments passed whilst the team adjusted but it wasn’t long before Sean looped the ball over the keeper to make it 3-1 and a great through ball from Spencer enabled AJ to make it 4-1 shortly afterwards.
The team gained in confidence and Spencer again was enjoying a second half midfield role linking with Kieran to slot home a delightful fifth for Dynamos. Spencer’s header from a corner allowed AJ to complete his hat-trick from close range and Jack scored a similar goal to complete the score at 7-1.
There were some worthy performances throughout. Aside from a shaky five minutes at the start of the second half, the defence performed admirably and it is important to note that they have conceded only one goal in three matches, a terrific achievement, with Jack, Robert, Taylor, Curtis and Jonathan all taking credit this morning, plus Ross in goal of course. It was the first time in a while that they played with Adam’s composure in the middle, but it was a fine effort by all.
In midfield Oscar and Joe supported the attack well from the wings. Kieran, Harry and Spencer are making more intelligent passes every week. AJ and Sean linked well in attack and on their day, are a handful for any defence.
It is encouraging for Paul and the players that their efforts are being
rewarded as the season progresses.
