Match Report

LTD Rockets 2 - 2 Dunton Dynamos

League Match - 2nd December 2007; Conditions: Atrocious! Very cold and windy with driving rain

Dynamos made a terrific comeback after going two goals down, to share the spoils. It was a fully deserved draw on the Rockets large, bumpy pitch in truly appalling conditions.

Rockets came into this match winning 5 out of 5 league matches, so Dynamos knew that they had a huge task on their hands, but how the whole team rose to the occasion! The tactics were to defend in numbers in the first half, playing uphill and facing the driving rain and to then play on the break.

Spencer had a great match, winning headers and playing some wonderful passes as the team broke away whenever they could. Sean worked hard up front and his runs helped take the pressure off of the defence. Joe and Harry linked well and Jack used the ball to good effect.

The defence were holding their own with Adam and Robert making good interceptions. Ross pulled off a great one handed save to turn the ball out for a corner. Despite all of these efforts, Rockets scored a somewhat controversial goal after 20 minutes to take the lead, when a deflected shot had a look of handball. However, the referee overruled the linesman and awarded the first goal of the morning. Three minutes later Rockets went further ahead after a goalmouth scramble. Ross then kept the score down after a brave save at the feet of a Rockets striker just before half time.

After the break, the team continued to work very hard and continued to play some great football too. Jonathan and Joe linked well down the left, who then passed to Sean who laid a great ball on for Spencer to slot home. Dynamos now had the upper hand and they were rewarded with a deserved equalizer when Sean capitalised on a poor clearance from the keeper to make the score 2-2. It capped an excellent team performance and all of the boys merited praise for their efforts in the pouring rain and freezing cold.
