Southend & District Junior Sunday League - Under 14’s Div. B League match

Weather: Dry, cloudy, breezy

 Hockley Orient 2 – 2 Dunton Dynamos

Dynamos battled to earn a well deserved draw at Hockley today. They played some really good football, with a real commitment and good passing throughout. The team started very well and put Orient on the back foot. Jack tried his luck from the edge of the area and soon afterwards, put a nice ball through for Oscar to run onto and flick the ball with the outside of his right foot past the keeper. 1 – 0.

Kieran almost added a second goal when he ran through the centre of the Orient defence to shoot well, but the keeper made a fine, brave save. Just when it seemed Dynamos could force the result in their favour, the defence mad a poor mistake in not getting the ball under control and the Orient striker nipped in the space created and equalised. 1-1

Adam led the line well and sent a looping cross come shot just over the bar, so Dynamos finished the first half level with Orient, somewhat frustrated by their inability to build on the early advantage. The confidence was high though, due to the boys’ excellent commitment, winning every tackle and every header.

Soon after the restart, it looked like Dynamos had taken the lead as Kieran latched onto a fine pass from Jamie, but the goal was disallowed.

Dynamos continued to put pressure on the Orient defence; AJ just headed wide from a fine corner delivered by Jamie but Orient fought back with a five man midfield squeezing the space in the middle of the park. Their winger then crossed from the left and the little No. 10 found the space between the defence to slot the ball home and Orient were ahead for the first time in the match.

Full credit must be given to Dynamos though, as they fought to equalise. Jonathan played a fine ball over the top for Adam to chase, but his shot just went wide. Adam then crossed from the right hand side and the Orient central defender could only crash the ball into his own net from six yards.

The final moments were frantic at both ends of the pitch but the teams had to share the spoils in a 2 -2 draw.
