Southend & District Junior Sunday League - Under 14’s Div. B League match
Weather: Dry, bright, breezy
Dunton Dynamos 1-0 Basildon Town
Dynamos finally met Basildon Town in a league fixture this season and it was a match worth waiting for, as they won by the solitary goal in a thoroughly deserved victory.
The goal itself was worthy of winning any match; Kieran produced a fantastic cross on the right hand side of the pitch into the penalty box, where Joe Williams met the ball to crash in a volley from six yards. Goal of the season!
The team all showed excellent commitment. The boys were firm in the tackle and passed the ball intelligently. It was pleasure to watch them look to pass the ball and as a consequence, confidence grew throughout the side.
One pass from Oscar set AJ free as he broke out from central defence, but the keeper saved for a corner.
Sam battled well on the left. He ran through for a strike on goal, but was put under pressure by the Town defence and shot wide.
Kieran was a power house in midfield and fully deserved his man of the match winning performance. So many other boys also played as well as they had in recent weeks; the defence was sound, Ross made some fine saves and both Adam and Joe chased and harried the Town back four up front.
