Southend & District Junior Sunday League - Under 14’s League match

Weather: Cold, grey

Dunton Dynamos 0 – 2 Shore Athletic

Dynamos were unlucky not to come away from the game with a point at least. They battled well and matched Shore Athletic in every department and deserved some reward, but unfortunately, they could not recover the deficit from a sloppy first 10 minutes, in which Shore scored twice.

Centre forward Adam ran at the Shore defence at every opportunity, but he was unable to convert his efforts into a goal. His first run and shot just went wide across the goal and during the course of the match, he made many powerful surges into the box, but without the luck he deserved.

It looked as though the poor start could be even worse when right back Robert was harshly penalised after being judged to have pushed a Shore striker in the penalty area. Thankfully, Ross produced a fine save to block the chance and it kept Dynamos in the hunt.

At half time, Athletic were grateful to be ahead. Several Dynamos have excellent performances, notably Robert who was made to work hard at defending his flank, Kieran and Oscar who both shone in midfield. It was Ross however that kept the team in the match again, when he dived to his left to make a fine save and pushed the ball wide for a corner.

At the other end, Joe Williams had a shot saved from the edge of the area but the few remaining chances that fell Dynamos way could not be converted. The boys kept battling on every blade of grass, with tough tackling, good passing and importantly, the desire to help one anther as a team. They could not however, recover from the 0-2 scoreline which did not reflect the game.

Men of the Match: Robert, Kieran, Oscar and Ross. A sure sign that the team played well, when at least four players excelled against in form Shore Athletic
