Match Report
Dunton Dynamos v Ecko Whitecaps (2-2)
Date: 8th November 2009
Venue: Ecko Whitecaps, Southend-on-Sea
Weather: cold, grey, damp
Dynamos needed a good response following last weeks drubbing in atrocious conditions at Southend Manor and conversely, they fought magnificently to equalise with a last gasp penalty this afternoon.
Paul had given the boys a pep talk after Saturday’s training session and the team responded excellently with performance worthy of at least a point, which was made all the more difficult when Jack went of injured after only 10 minutes with a torn hamstring. With no substitutes available, Dynamos would have to show great character to come away with anything in this bottom of the table clash. They did. Jonathan made a great driving run from the centre of defence to lead by example and everyone dug in to help one another. Dynamos were very much under the cosh but after surviving an Ecko shot which hit the bar, they very unfortunate to concede a double deflected shot from outside the box which somehow made its way into the corner. 0-1 at half-time.

In the second half, Oscar played very well, making important headers in the midfield to clear and making important tackles. AJ made driving runs to put the Ecko defence under pressure and Joe Williams finally earned an equaliser with a great turn and shot into the right hand corner. 1-1. AJ tried his luck with a toe poke, but the keeper saved and again he worked hard with a great run which the keeper turned away for a corner as Dynamos pressed for a winner with all of the boys working for each other despite the inevitable tiredness which was setting in. Joe Williams crossed to AJ but his effort went just past the post and just when it seemed the team would grab a winner, Ecko broke away and their striker hit a 20 yarder that Ross failed to hold and so it was 1-2 with just minutes to go.Just when it seemed that all was lost, Dynamos earned a last minute penalty after some shirt tugging, which AJ struck firmly straight down the middle to equalise with the very last kick of the match for Dynamos to grab a thoroughly deserved point.
Man of the Match: Adam, for a strong, doughty performance in the defence, leading by example with focus and determination.
