Match Report
Dunton Dynamos v Hockley Orient CUP MATCH (1-3)
Date: 18th October 2009
Venue: Westminster Drive, Hockley
Weather: Fine Autumn afternoon, bright and sunny
Sadly there will be no cup final re-appearance this season for Dynamos, as they crashed out of the competition after being deservedly beaten at Hockley Orient. Just a few weeks after beating the same team in the opening game of the new season, Dynamos played poorly in the first half and never fully recovered from their bad start.
Both Kieran and Jack tried their luck in the opening minutes from distance, but Orient posed a constant threat with more penetration on the attack. The reds took the lead from a throw on when their striker crashed a shot into the top corner and then had several more chances as they attacked through the middle at every opportunity.
Ross made a terrific diving save to his left to push the ball past the post, even though the referee signalled for a goal kick. But soon afterwards, Robert was unable to clear and Orient scored a second goal to extend the lead further. Joe was unlucky when his shot and turn was cleared off of the line, but in reality Dynamos were lucky to go into half time only 2 goals down.

Orient extended their lead soon after the break and it looked as though they were cruising into the next round. But credit to Dynamos, as at last they had a spell of pressure when the team pushed on and forced their way back into game when substitute AJ scored a fine solo effort twisting and turning the defence before slotting the ball home. Game on?
Both Jack and Jonathan had shot from outside the box in which the keeper dealt with the latter and watched the ball sail over the bar for the former.
Dynamos looked as though they may pull something out of the game, but were under pretty much a constant threat from Orient as Ross made two terrific saves and Harry made one fantastic block and a clearance off of the line to prevent the scoreline looking worse. Joe tried his luck with a hook over his shoulder in the final moments, but Dynamos were unable to offer a serious threat and in the end Orient ran out deserved winners.
Man of the Match – Ross, for some fine saves which kept Dynamos in the hunt. Harry also played very well and was as tenacious as ever in the tackle.
