Match Report

Dunton Dynamos v Canvey Youth (8-1)

Date: 4th October 2009

Venue: Canvey Island

Weather: Bright and breezy

Dynamos strolled through to the next round of the cup, with a convincing display on Canvey Island.

The boys started positively and put the Canvey ‘keeper under pressure from the kick off. The early pressure paid dividends as AJ crashed home a fine shot on the right hand edge of the penalty box into the top corner to take the lead. Joe Williams was unlucky as his effort hit the crossbar soon afterwards and Jonathan tested the goalie with shot from outside the box.

Oscar joined those peppering the goal but this time his strike was turned around the post for a corner.

It was soon afterwards that AJ crashed in his and Dynamos second goal and Jack hit a 25 yarder that was meant to be a cross, into the far corner to make it 3-0.

AJ was goal hungry and he had two shots blocked before Kieran burst through from midfield, but he was also denied by the keeper, when his work should have been rewarded with a goal. He was reaping the benefits a few moments later however, when his next strike was too powerful for the goalie. 4-0.

Jack had a fine game and grew with confidence as the game progressed. His cross just before half time was headed goal-wards, but it was Curtis who tucked the ball home to take the Dynamos into the break winning 5-0.

The second half was a formality – Harry and Jamie added to the score line and Kieran claimed his second as Dynamos finally ran out winners by 8-1.

Last season of course, Dynamos finished runners up in the cup final, so it will be interesting to see how far they progress in this new competition.
