Match Report

Dunton Dynamos v Hockley Orient (4-2)

Date: 20th Sept 2009

Venue:Home. Langdon Hills Recreation Ground

Weather: Warm, sunny and bright.

New season, new pitch and a new league – Dynamos had plenty to look forward too on this somewhat balmy, Sunday morning kick off at Langdon Hills Recreation Ground. Joe Williams thought so and he raced down the right wing in the opening minutes to crash a wonderful goal into the far corner, looping the ball over the Orient ‘keeper. 1-0.

Dynamos took the game to Orient after this perfect start and AJ burst through the middle but the keeper saved his shot. Jonathan made a crunching tackle in the middle of the park and all looked promising for the white shirted home team. However, Orient muscled their way back into contention, winning the 50-50's and deservedly equalised after poor defending by Dynamos. 1-1.

Dynamos failed to dominate the first half again after this goal and both teams went into half time with one goal a piece.

Manager Paul's half-time pep talk seemed to have done the trick - Dynamos came out of the blocks much sharper – Oscar was unlucky not to score when he ‘toe poked’ the ball against the post but Jack did hit the target with a superb half volley which crashed in off the post. 2-1

Just when Dynamos thought that they had the upper hand, Orient equalised when a ball over the top should have been dealt with by Dynamos defence, but instead Orient’s striker hit a beautiful unstoppable shot over Ross. 2-2.

However, Dynamos did not let their heads go down. AJ hit a curling shot outside the box just wide of the post, but moments later he did hit the back of the net when Jamie closed down Orients’ midfield on the right wing, then passed to Oscar who in turn set AJ free again to nudge the ball past the keeper. 3 – 2. AJ should have scored his second when he rounder the keeper but the Orient defence cleared off of the goal line.

The best of four terrific goals was scored by Man of the Match Kieran. He hit a fantastic volley from outside the box, which was due reward for his efforts in midfield.

Dynamos were much better in the second half and a win to start the season was probably deserved over all.
