Dunton Dynamos U10 Match Report - 4th February 2007
Dunton Dynamos U10 4 - 0 Dunton Dynamos U11
Captain This Week - George
Scorers - Jordan, Brandon (3)
Man Of The Match - Brandon (U10) - Worked tirelessly in attack and scored a hat-trick!
This was a friendly fixture between our current U10 and U11 sides. The purpose was to gives the boys a match (as neither side had a scheduled fixture) and to help the U10 side get used to the 11-a-side format along with offside, pass-back rules and the larger pitch. The result was never going to be important, - the priority was to ensure both teams enjoyed the event and gained vital experience, not to mention the obvious fitness benefits.
The U11 side were severely depleted with only seven regular outfield players available. The U10s "loaned" them one of their players (Jack) in order to make it a bit fairer. Also, the fifteen year old brother of one of the players went in goal for the first half making their total complement nine players. One of the Dads went in goal in the second half as their goalie had to attend a prior engagement.
The U10s also had a notable absentee - Ethan who was unable to play following illness during the week. Cameron was also not on top form, having been off school all week with a viral infection. The U10s therefore lined up with just ten players (including their trusty keeper Liam)..
The game was scheduled for twenty-five minutes each way, which was a good compromise between the usual 30 minutes played by the U11s and the 20 minutes usually played by the U10s.
The U10s started strongly, with Jordan working his magic down the left wing and good linking inter-play between Brandon, George and Harry. With Jack playing his first game at this level, he acquitted himself well at right-back in the senior side, making a number of good tackles to break up the U10's progress. The U10's passing and movement was quite exceptional, and made the most of the extra man. Jordan's crosses were causing all sorts of problems in the U11's defense. Through hard work, persistence and a degree of good fortune, the U10s found themselves 3-0 up at half-time.
In the second half, it was a much more even game, with the U11s having more of the possession. They pressed hard but were unable to make much of an impression on the four-man defensive unit of Harry, Calum, Cameron and Billy. Keeper Liam had little to do but when required he was alert and confident.
The U10s scored a well-deserved fourth goal in the last five minutes to seal the victory and effectively kill the game off.
Our thanks go to the U11 side for taking part in this game, giving our U10s this vital experience. Had the full squad been available, we're sure the result would have been very different. That said, they did well against a highly-motivated U10 side. All the U11 players worked very hard, including Jack (from the U10s). Well done, thanks and good luck for the rest of the season.
